Thought you should see what I just wrote on Oscar's Facebook page:
"Just want to comment on the treatment we received during our dinner on 4/26. We arrived to scout for a television shoot we had scheduled with marketing director, Tiffany Widdows, to do on 5/1 at Oscar's for the Kentucky Derby. An advance call was made the afternoon of 4/26 and were told when we made our reservation that there would be someone available to take care of our needs.
Upon arrival, general manager Adam Margolies immediately met us with the response, "I've never heard anything about this F----- show." We decided to eat at Oscar's despite the initial mistreatment. However, during dinner, the GM, our waiter (with hair in ponytail) and the other staff members didn't refill water or bring bread to the table, and an appetizer was not delivered. Others around our table were provided with service, but we were visibly being ignored.
Then, Tiffany Widdows surprised us at our dinner table at Oscar's telling us that she heard there had been or was a "problem." We explained the issues we had previously in the evening with the GM and at dinner...and she ended up retracting her initial offer to let us film the television segment at Oscar's.
My wife and I are fans of the Goodman's. We have never been treated so disrespectfully in thirty years in Vegas. We are disappointed in this experience at the restaurant representing Oscar's name. The television show will go on without The Plaza and without Oscar's."

If you want to experience a highly pathetic dining experience, I encourage you to go to Oscar's for the mere fact of verifying this truly is the most jaundiced, miserable and loathable establishment situated in the Las Vegas Downtown, Strip and surrounding areas! Ponderosa Steak House, The Golden Corral, Ryan's, even Jack in the Box's Sirloin Steakburger blow this place out of the water! Too boot - you will be treated ten times better frequenting those places compared to Oscar's in every facet imaginable. From guest service, to food quality, to atmosphere; Oscar's is at the bottom of the barrell, six feet under and will not survive as a business unless serious changes take place.
From a greasy haired pony tailed waiter, to an ignorant General Manager whose signature appears on Oscar's Menu, to a Marketing Manager who recently was touted Vegas' top ten up and comers - who in my book has no clue how to market anything but her smart ass mouth - bar tenders, waitresses strong arming you to buy drinks in the bar area while waiting for a table - which by the way you cannot transfer tabs to your meal ticket - to the gothic looking hosts - this place is a joke.
Situated in one of the most god awful casinos, whose casino floor is like a ghost town, stained covered carpets, and 20 year old girls dancing in go-go boots atop blackjack tables, I should have expected the experience would be bad.
5 pieces of frozen shrimp with ketchup on them runs you close to $30 - for that same price you can stay at the hotel ($30 a night) - I'd reccommend getting a room before you order the shrimp - it's cheaper. A strip steak with a bone in it runs you close to $50 - and don't excpect to get this hot or cooked the way you want - and getting a basket of bread takes an act of congress! If you go - stop by Smith's and bring your own from their bakery.
4 people - $300+ for the bill 2 hours and 45 mintues later. Yep = the service is horrid. I would have had more enjoyment putting $300 on Red at the roulette table - at least I would have a little chance to enjoy myself.

I ordered sesame chicken for dinner, and for the money I was expecting something good, but what
I got was just fast-food-style chicken chunks that were mostly breading. They were doused with
what tasted like sweet and sour sauce with some sesame seeds sprinkled on top. It was the kind
of Chinese food you get at a drive-thru after a night of drinking.
My girlfriend ordered the beef chow fun, which for some reason, tasted like fish. Not sure how they
pulled that off. The quality of the meat was poor. Hard to chew and it had a weird texture.

I expected to encounter long lines due to the free burger promotion, but the place was not busy. Though this restaurant has been open for several months, we were told by an employee that no one knows its open because of its location at the far end of the center. The coupons, I printed 2, were good for standard burgers that come with lettuce, tomato, onion and American cheese plus we shared a soda. The burgers were tasty, but dry due to being overcooked.

I was surprised to discover that this is a sports bar serving jazzed up bar food. We received complimentary pretzel rolls plus mustard before ordering the Sammy D Sampler that included lollipop Buffalo wings, walnut shrimp and Philly cheesesteak dumplings plus an order of O-rings (onion). If ordered individually the MSRP would have been $59, but by requesting the sampler our bill came to a more reasonable, yet overpriced for what you get, $37. Everything was good, but nothing scaled any culinary heights. This restaurant is included in the dining guide "Easting Las Vegas: The 50 Essential Restaurants, but it is one and done for us.

It has been 3 years and at least one change in chef since our last visit, but service and quality remains high. We took a pass on the bread basket, but ordered a delicious spinach salad that was topped with goat cheese, red and yellow pear tomatoes, and red onions. Our entrée was their signature pan seared, 22 ounce, bone-in ribeye that our waiter divided for us tableside. The steak was medium rare as requested, tender and delicious while our twice baked potato was tasty though overdone.

We previously dined at their other location so I was anticipating nothing less than an excellent breakfast and I was not disappointed. The restaurant is larger and brighter than the original. We were initially ignored by the wait staff so after about 10 minutes I got up and flagged one down. Once we received menus, we discovered 17 different varieties of pancakes are offered – decisions, decisions. Our dining went conservative by ordering buttermilk, my wife the red velvet and I tossed caution and calories to the wind by choosing the banana cream pie. Oh my God, mine was hands down the best and most calorie laden pancakes ever conceived.

This restaurant is in a large office park and only open for breakfast and lunch Monday – Friday. The weather was close to picture perfect so after ordering cups of their house made soup, we settled in at a table on the patio. Ann’s Manhattan clam chowder was chock full of fresh vegetables and bursting with flavor. My cream of asparagus soup was silky smooth and delicious, but paled in comparison. The only negative was our soup was not hot enough which I attribute to our server not realizing we had camped out on the patio. There is little doubt in my mind that we will be returning to try one of their quiches in the not too distant future.

We were served a complimentary plate of grilled bread, hummus and a garlic cream cheese spread (2.5 Forks). Our first order was the obligatory pan fried dates with almonds in a balsamic reduction sauce and sprinkled with goat cheese (4 Forks) and Manchego mac and cheese (3.5 Forks). The second round was less successful: camarones al Ajillo (garlic shrimp) that were slightly overcooked and served at room temperature (2 Forks), a mundane house salad (2 Forks) and pastelillos pollo (chicken cake) served with a gribiche sauce (2.5 Forks). We closed out the meal with a chocolate tres leches cake.

We began by touring the lobby area which must fall under the category of retro chic. The restaurant itself is pretty nice though much smaller than I expected. There were some people sitting at the bar and several more on the patio, but the restaurant proper was barely half full this Friday evening.
We each ordered the roasted loup de mer, Mediterranean sea bass with a bean ragout, roasted Brussels sprouts and bacon while sharing a Caesar salad and baker. The combination of bean ragout and the sea bass was a bit strange, but the Brussels sprouts and fish were very good. As usual, our baker was way overdone. Service was very good throughout. 15*westie2f@hotmail.com

This restaurant is owned by Carla Pellegrino of Rao and Bacio fame, but run by her sister and brother-in-law. The restaurant, formerly Chefs Palate, is small, but very busy on this Monday evening. Fortunately we decided to only order entrees because the portion size is generous with most people departing with doggy bags in hand.
Ann’s entrée was salmon in salsa al limone - a very large portion of moist salmon sitting on a humungous amount of sautéed spinach. I ordered pollo scarpariello - oven roasted half chicken, topped with sautéed red, yellow bell peppers, hot & sweet Italian sausage and hot cherry peppers. Both dishes emphasized high quality, fresh ingredients. Neither of us came close to finishing our meals so on our next visit, there will be one, we will likely share an appetizer and a single entrée. 3043*westie2f@hotmail.com

This recently opened bakery/restaurant is owned and operated by an alumnus of Bouchon. I stopped in one day on my way back to the hotel and picked up a strawberry Danish that we shared in the room. It was different than the traditional Danish, but very tasty. I am looking forward to returning for breakfast.

The son of the former owners of the Fat Greek now has his own restaurant. It is small and informal, but obviously a very popular luncheon destination for locals. We ordered bowls of avgolemono, an egg/lemon soup, accompanied by grilled pita bread. This rendition of the classic Greek soup was a bit thicker than some, but delicious.

It has been close to 5 years since we last dined at this small family owned/operated restaurant. I had a Groupon good for 2 glasses of wine (merlot) and 2 entrees. We also shared a Greek salad and a complimentary fresh pita, direct from the oven, with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. My wife ordered moussaka which was very good while I tried the lamb shawarma.
I have had this dish at two other restaurants and have finally come to the conclusion that I just don’t like it 920*westie2f@hotmail.com

I am not sure how this small, casual, Mexico City-type eatery managed to be included in the dining guide: Eating Las Vegas: The 50 Essential Restaurants, but but consomme loco with a clear chicken broth, rice, cilantro, shredded chicken and avocado satisfies us in a way only a homemade soup could.

This highly acclaimed Mexican restaurant is located in the World Market Center, within walking distance of both the Las Vegas Premium outlets and the recently opened Smith Center. We had OpenTable reservations for noon on a Friday and were soon munching on the complimentary housemade chips and salsa. We both ordered enchiladas with my wife choosing the chicken with roasted tomatillo sauce, Chihuahua cheese and crema fresca. I ordered the garden enchiladas with roasted tomato garlic sauce, Chihuahua cheese and crema fresca. Both dishes were very good though Ann thought hers lacked balance because there was too much chicken.

Dave’s name may be on the marquee, but it is Lisa who creates culinary magic in the kitchen. He handles the phone and serves as waiter in this tiny, informal restaurant. Based on what I have read, you are best served by sticking to the Thai entrees. My wife I decided to share orders of Massaman curry with chicken and stir fry linguini with vegetables and shrimp. The curry included avocado, sweet potatoes, cashews, coconut milk and peppers. All the ingredients were very fresh and delicious. This restaurant is a true mom and pop operation and I hope it succeeds.

On this visit we shared a large bowl of tom ka gai soup which was loaded with chicken. It was on the spicy side and delicious, but IMHO it would have benefited by the addition of a little more coconut milk to round out the flavor. We also shared orders of sweet chili basil chicken and seafood eggplant. Both were above average, but the meal ended up being too much of a good thing.

My lowly expectations for this meal were realized. The restaurant was not busy, but everything from start to finish seemed to take a little too long. We were served warm garlic bread with balsamic vinegar and olive oil, but the bread was too salty. The lobster ravioli in a tomato cream sauce ordered by Ann was a bit too al dente while my eggplant Parmesan entrée was heavily breaded thick slices of undercooked eggplant.

This is a relatively new restaurant located in the space occupied for many years by Kristofer's. We entered the Riveria via Paradise road and were able to enter without winding our way around and through the casino. The restaurant is fairly casual though we were seated by a maitre d. We shared a warm bacon and spinach salad. Ann ordered the grilled salmon steak entrée which was bountiful and very moist. Mine was a mammoth double, more likely a triple, cut pork chop with an apple cranberry sauce. We also shared a bowl of roasted cream corn. Prices were moderate for a Strip restaurant of this quality.
