American Grill

Date Visited: 05/08 - Good Meal
This restaurant occupies the space that formerly housed Bonjour Bistro. A female jazz singer and a pianist were performing on Saturday night, but the music was way too loud and proved to be an irritation until it was finally toned down. The waiter delivered a bowl of salted edamame as an amuse bouche. We shared an organic spinach salad with raspberries, blue cheese, grape tomatoes, fresh orange segments and cashews in orange vinaigrette. Ms. Westie chose truffled macaroni and cheese while I settled for the pork tenderloin stuffed with goat cheese in a white wine sauce accompanied by roasted potatoes on cabbage. The size of my tenderloin was almost frightening and could easily have fed Robert Leach. The meal cost $23.16, net of our $25 restaurant.com certificate. I would rate the restaurant at 3.5 on the scale of 0-5 with 5 being outstanding.

Emperors Garden

Date Visited: 05/08 - Bad Meal
This restaurant serves Szechwan and Mandarin cuisine. We each started off with a cup of corn and chicken soup that turned out to be egg drop soup with a few kernels of corn tossed in for good measure. We shared entrees of shrimp lo mein and spicy chicken with peppers. Neither dish scaled any culinary heights, but at least I was able to use a 20% off coupon printed off the LVRJ website to ease my disappointment. Cost of meal including gratuity was $21.33.

Le Golosita

Date Visited: 05/08 - Good Meal
This restaurant has the same ownership as Zefferino’s at the Venetian though the menu is not nearly as ambitious and the pricing more friendly though hardly inexpensive. We shared the Le Golosita salad – watercress, radicchio, arugula, cherry tomatoes, olives and shrimp wrapped in prosciutto in vinaigrette. Ms. Westie’s entrée was veal saltimbocca – veal scaloppini topped with sage and pancetta in a white wine sauce. I chose the branzino – 2 Mediterranean sea bass filets with white wine and capers. Each entrée included roasted potatoes and crisp green beans. I used a $50 gift certificate purchased for $12.50 at halfoffdeals.com to ease the financial burden. Cost $13.98.

Prior to exiting we stopped at the adjoining bakery and taste tested several varieties of gelato. It was a tough decision since 19 flavors were available, but we settled on a small cup of pistachio. All gelato is prepared in-house and each one we sampled was at least very good. $4.26.

On a return trip we sampled several other flavors and then shared a small cup of
chocolate. $4.26.

Nora's Cuisine

Date Visited: 05/08 - Undecided
The 2007 recipient of the LVRJ’s Reader’s Choice award as the Best Undiscovered Restaurant and has a Zagat rating of 24, 18, 21. This southern Italian restaurant is very popular and we encountered a long waiting line as we entered at 7PM, but we had secured advance reservations and were promptly seated. We shared a Caesar salad that was on the small side though the menu indicated it would serve 2-3. The salad itself was decent, but the croutons were soft and flavorless. The menu was the same as you would find in any Italian/American restaurant so Ms. Westie ordered the eggplant parmesan while I chose meatballs and spaghetti. Both dishes were satisfactory though typically over sauced and below expectations. Cost - $31.96,

The Buffet in Wynn Las Vegas

Date Visited: 03/08 - Good Meal
Dining at the Wynn is the pinnacle buffet experience in Las Vegas. I was amazed at the wide and varied selection of food...trout, red salmon, oysters, fresh bread, eggs made to order, and a dazzling array of other seafood, salads, meats, desserts...unsurpassed in the history of Las Vegas Buffets. The buffet at the Wynn is costly, and the line was ungodly, but the food is well worth the wait. The Wynn buffet is the standard all other buffets are measured against. The only other buffets that even come close to the Wynn are the Bellagio buffet, the Paris Le Village buffet, the Rio seafood buffet, and the Planet Hollywood Spice Market buffet. The Wynn though is superior in every respect.

The Buffet in Las Vegas Hilton

Date Visited: 05/08 - Good Meal
We ate here with our 4 year old son and the waitress serving us brought my son peanut butter to dip his bananas in. She was so very attentive and right there to clear plates everytime we finished and filling our drinks without ever being asked. The pasta to order was amazing, great prime rib, turkey, everything was fabulous!!! Desserts were very good and at the ice cream bar they had gummy bears (big hit with my four year old son), mini m&m's, crushed butterfingers, tons of fruit, incuding whole apples and bananas. They really aimed to please and they did!!

Miss Ashley's Boarding House Buffet in Buffalo Bill's

Date Visited: 09/07 - Good Meal
My wife, buddy and myself gave Buffalo Bill's Miss Ashley's Boarding House Buffet a try for lunch. The price at $8.95 plus tax (7.5% tax) is a deal! The atmosphere is kinda of ambient (western look with wood tones and decor), but to me was very nice (I like western styles). The food was good for the price, lots of ribs, mashed potatos, fried chicken, roast beef. Salad bar is legit too. General speaking, for simple, reasonable quality food (better than Hometown Buffet), this buffet isn't bad at all. If you are on a budget (Like I am - Primm/Vegas on the cheap due to a crappy economy), THIS SHOULD BE A STOP FOR YOU! Again, it's not super elegant, so don't complain if they don't have sushi or caviar - They don't. But, it's simple foods that just taste great. I will be going back there in June, 2008 for an update to see if they have maintained or increased their quality. Stay tuned!

Memphis Championship Barbeque

Date Visited: 04/08 - Good Meal
I have been raised on Barbeque...attended many competitions, and eatin some of the best BBQ around the country...This is authentic & the real deal...The pulled pork sandwiches with slaw, the ribs (all of them...baby back, st. louis, and beef), baked beans, and the sweet teas are as good as any in the country. People may have regional preference, but you'll not find a better selection of BBQ @ Homestyle cooking. Can't wait to revisit. Thanks Memphis!

Only complaint: Wine had sediment in it and they did not decanter.

Not especially fond of the photographer pushing her way around the restaurant but it's Vegas and everyone's out to make a buck.

Food is good and view is best in the City - but for people watching, go to Joe's Stone Crab in Caesar's or any Forum Shop restaurant...

Anna Bella Restaurant

Date Visited: 04/08 - Good Meal
I live just up the hill behind Green Valley Ranch and eat out all the time. La Collina on Carnegie & Horizon Ridge & Anna Bella are by far the two best Italian Restaurants off the strip. La Collina has a " To die for " view of the Strip/Airport/Valley, and great Osso Bucco. But it's Anna Bella for excellent pasta dishes. Don't let the strip mall location fool you. But if you want THE VIEW do La Collina.

Service and food were excellent. One thing you don't see at other buffets is management constantly monitoring the service in all sections of the serving and dining areas like at the Bellagio. It was very busy when we went though everything was perfect.....very impressed with the quality and service....have never been disappointed in the past either.

Bayside Buffet in Mandalay Bay

Date Visited: 04/08 - Bad Meal
Last visit in 2006 was great.......that's why we came back. Used to rank up there with the likes of the Paris and Bellagio buffets. Things have changed! Selection was very limited. If you like prime rib, avoid this buffet like the plague..... if you try and eat it, it will ruin anything else you try to eat.......had to be the worst I have ever had anywhere. Other selections were either underdone or overdone. The selection of desserts is something that you might expect to see if you were paying $5.95 for your lunch. Overall, I did not find anything worth returning for in the future.

Paradise Garden Buffet in Flamingo Las Vegas

Date Visited: 04/08 - Bad Meal
Arrived 1/2 hour before breakfast ended. Food and selections were very good however all hot food was not at proper serving temperature.....moderately warm at best. Though there were only a few tables occupied when we arrived, we had to wait several minutes for our waitress to notice us....she was busy setting all the tables in her station with silverware and had to finish before she could greet us. Once we ordered drinks for our party of two and proceeded to the buffet line, she forgot our order and had to ask for it again. Our drinks were on our table when we came back with our selections. That was the last we ever saw of our server........no refills, no removal of plates.....nothing. When we were leaving, we walked past our server who was standing next to the stairwell with several other servers talking to each other. None of the servers seemed to notice us leaving. Though the atmosphere and food selection for breakfast were very good......this was the worst experience with service I have ever had from my previous visits to Vegas.

Spice Market Buffet in Planet Hollywood

Date Visited: 04/08 - Bad Meal
Wow, it's difficult for me to say what I'm going to since this is a relatively new hotel and I'm sure they do all they can to attract visitors. But, food-wise - all they can is not enough. The selection of food - poor (not if you are a fan of potatoes and eggs, though). Price - even 10 bucks would hve been a waste. Listen, I can not understand how this buffet got it's currant ranking - may be it was written buy the employees and their friends - no way! Although you can't argue about taste, I don't see any reason to step into this place when one has much better choices in much more reasonable buffets.
Stay Away!!

Cravings Buffet in The Mirage

Date Visited: 04/08 - Good Meal
I've been about 10-11 times in LV. This is the first time I had a breakfast at the CRAVING BUFFET in THE MIRAGE. Listen dudes - this is the place to beat! (and to eat...). The selection - huge, taste - delicious, room - spacey, service - pleasant, price - reasonable (much cheaper, though, compared to worse buffets).
I can definitely say that if the chef doesn't change or goes nuts for some reasons - If you want to experience differnt buffets - go ahead but if you want to enjoy a very good breakfast buffet - this is THE place!!
