The Range Steakhouse - For Dinner

Month Visited: 10/07 - Good Meal
I had a Gift Certificate for any restaurant in Harrah's so my wife and I decided to try the Range. It is pretty expensive but the food is pretty good. I got the prime rib and my wife got the surf and turf. Prime Rib was good not great. Wife claimed the surf and turf was not worth the money. I highly recommend getting the Au Gratin potatoes as a side dish, however. I could have made a meal out of that alone.

The primerib was superb, the side dishes of mushrooms and asparagus (which are enough to feed 4 or 5 of your fellow dinners) were perfect. Can't wait to go back!!!

Great place in every respect. The prime rib was huge and the best I've tasted in many years. Superb service. Pricey, but worth every penny.

Very good meal. Excellent steaks with a good view out onto the strip. Reasonablly priced compared to other higher end steakhouses. Very good mashed potatoes. We also loved the peanut butter cheesecake dessert thing. Can't remember the exact name. The onion rings were just okay. Everything else was very good to excellent including the salads. We paid around $100 dollars for 2 filets, 2 salads, 2 vegetables, 2 sodas, and 1 dessert. Would eat here again.

After several visits to the Range, this last one was disappointing. As stated in another review, the salad was room temperature. That's not good! I wrote to the Range manager and receive a quick reply. We will try again, hoping for better results. In the past, it has been outstanding. I always get the table I request. Must listen to Calvin Brooks, the jazz guitarist, in the Lounge. He is wonderful and a very personable entertainer.

Since I was staying at Harrahs I decided to treat my Mother, cousin, and her grandaughter. We got the crab cakes and sashimi for an appetizer, both were very good. I got the Dover Sole and a Lobster tail. The Dover Solve was very very good. Cousin and Mother got prime rib. Everything comes with salad and the salads are good. Mom also got French onion soup and mashed potatoes. Grandaughter got mac and cheese, only 3 years old. Everything was very good. The service is excellent. The view from the second floor is very good although not as good as the stratosphere. The quality of the food is just below the high end Steakhouses but the price was $214 with tip and no drinks.

Big disappointment. I chose the Escargot with puff pastry. Was OK. They could have skipped the huge puff pastry and substituted for Provolone cheese. Also had the lobster bisque. Was served barely luke warm and was too thick like it had been sitting out awhile. DH has the roasted chicken breast. The portion was quite small. We shared the creme brulee for dessert and they torched the top table side. Burnt it to a crisp. Check came to $63.00. Not worth it.

For our first trip to Vegas, I decided to surprise my husband with dinner at a nice restaurant. I had made reseravations for 7pm. Overall, the experience was just okay. The atmosphere was nice, food was mediocre at best, and service was worse. I had requested a strip view table; what we got was a table overlooking Harrah's courtyard. The side items are served a la carte and are huge; I believe we ordered red potatoes and there was enough to share. On our next trip to Vegas, I know we'll definitely try a different restaurant. I doubt we'll ever return to The Range. It wasnt awful, but it wasnt good either.

I went to The Range at Harrahs for the first time last weekend. I am usually in Las Vegas two or three times a month for the great food and wonderful shows. While I usually prefer Prime at Bellagio or Delmonico's, I must say that The Range was a diamond in the rough and a pleasant surprise. The service was fantastic and the food was well above average. The "buy a glass, get a bottle" offer on wine was great. The steak was cooked perfectly and my waitress was both stunning to look at and the perfect hostess for the evening. My friends laughed at me when I said I was going to The Range, but I stand by my review 100%. I may even consider staying at Harrahs my next trip out instead of my usual Bellagio or Venetian just to be a little closer to the great food.

The crying baby in the corner with the unattentive parents was one of the only negatives the entire evening.

Trust me. Try it, you'll like it.

This was our first visit to The Range and if we get the chance for another visit to Vegas, Harrah's and The Range will definitely be the place to stay and dine!! Food was great and the service couldn't have been better! Would love to have the recipe for the Zinfandel Vinegarette salad dressing, it was the bomb!!!
