Shintaro - For Dinner

We originally reserved for the Teppanyaki, but we changed our minds when we saw the prices. Hideously overpriced deoesn't even begin to cover it! It would have cost approximately $600 - $700 for a full dinner for two. We then changed to the Sushi Bar, and it was a great experience. The fish was outstanding, the very highest quality, in a class with Nobu and Sushi Samba. The sushi chefs were humorous, fast and skillful. They also gave us a free item, which was great. We can't wait to come back to the Sushi Bar.

There were 4 of us. With wine, tax and tip, the bill was $500. Overpriced, but hey, it's at the Bellagio what do you expect. The food was great, and so was the service. I was glad to finally see that there are also some quieter restaurants in Vegas, because usually you can't hear each other because of all the noise. I booked 2 months in advance for my wife's birthday dinner. The lady on the phone promised me a lake (fountain) view table, because of the special occasion and because I was staying at the Bellagio. It could have been a great experience BUT once we arrived there they brought us to a table without fountain view. I even spoke to the manager but she told me that they can never guarantee such a table, and that all the lake view tables were reserved already. There was nothing she could do for me. I guess I wasn't important enough. You see, whenever there's a highroller that puts it in his head to eat in such a restaurant, they immediately throw 'regular people' off their tables and change the whole schedule. And like in most uf those cases, the spoiled highroller (who probably gave 10 minutes notice that he wanted to eat there) didn't even bother to show up, and MY lake view table was empty during my whole dinner experience, while I was looking out to a wall in steacd of a the fountains. And just for that reason, I WILL NEVER EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT AGAIN.

I would rate Shintaro a good experience and meal but just barely. I expected more for the money I paid. To me Shintaro is no more than a glorified Benihana's but what made me decide to rate it 'Good' is because the food was great and well prepared but about Benihana quality. The atmosphere and decor were great. There were real jellyfish swimming behind the bar with multicolor lights. Way cool. After our dinner we caught the Bellagio Fountains from the balcony of the restaurant. That to me made everything worthwhile because of the access and the romance of having all of this and the meal at your disposal. I am undecided whether I would eat there again as I would more readily try other restaurants with balconies facing the water to see if their food stacks up. The price is very expensive which sways me from making it a 'must return' destination. $250+ for four people is a little excessive for what we got.

Beautiful setting and very elegant environment. My husband had the tasting menu and I had the chilean sea bass. Delicious! The service was outstanding and we found our experience there to be just wonderful. Will definitely go back!!

Shintaro - For Dinner

Coming from Northern California I may be a bit of a sushi snob ;)

I found the food here to be just so-so. I had the sampler meal which has about 6 or 7 small plates brought out in succession. Nothing was "bad" but I wouldn't rate any of it excellent by a long shot. I did have a bite of my husband's seafood soup and it was the worst I've had.

We were there at about 8PM on a Saturday night and to our surprise there was hardly anyone there. It never picked up either. The atmosphere is really lacking and they definitely need to dim the lights. It was very bright in there and made it feel like I was eating in a McDonalds. You can see the fountains of the Bellagio from a lot of the tables and even though we were close to the windows the lights were so bright it was hard to see out.

The wine list is lacking and there are few wines by the glass.

The servers were friendly and efficent but there weren't many of us there to serve.

We were there a little early and wanted to have a drink before dinner but they don't have a bar. There are plenty at the casino though.

This place is far from intimate and is a big disappointed considering the hotel it's in. We stayed in the Bellagio and I can say that every attention to detail is made there. Unfortunately this didn't exptend to their Asian restaurant.
