Some friends of mine and I visited this restaurant December 9th. We were in Vegas for a buddy's wedding and figured we'd get a nice meal at a nice place, treat ourselves to something we weren't used to. The first impression we had was, "Well, this place is pretty classy, pretty cool." We saw the wine tower, but we didn't see an angel flying up right away. (As far as I'm concerned, who the hell cares to see some lady hooked to a wire yanked up to grab a bottle anyway?) Later, we did see her go up to get some wine, and (imagine a smarmy, sarcastic voice here)I'm sure I've never seen anything so cool in my life. From where I was sitting, I couldn't see the tower, so I had to stand and turn around to see it. I'll tell you what I could see and hear from where I was sitting: some egotistical blowhole in a Hard Rock Cafe denim shirt (Real classy. I wore a suit jacket for the first time in 15 years) twirling his wine glass and sniffing it and making some smart-sounding comments about it, trying to sound sophisticated. I'll bet he didn't even know what the hell he was talking about. I felt like pounding him. So get this: my girlfriend had to wait in line for the women's bathroom quite a while (it was, apparently, a one-toilet bathroom), wondering what someone was doing in there. 10 minutes later, out comes the same blowhole who was sitting across from us at dinner. Yes, from the women's bathroom! My girlfriend tells me he made a not-so-pleasant smell in there as well. I suppose we can't blame the restaurant for that episode, but it was representative of our whole experience there. My friends who booked the reservations had seen the restaurant in some guide that listed the price of a meal in the $25-$50 range. We would have been fine with that. However, when we looked at the menu, we found that there was a base price of $75 for each person, and additional charges for some meals. We thought about leaving, but stayed because it was late and we had a show to get to. Later, I looked the restaurant up in another guide which also said "$50 or less" for a meal. My girlfriend and I each had one drink (total of $12), and with a tip, our bill came to $190. That's a lot of money for a public school teacher to fork over, but I was somehow able to keep my sanity. I wanted to try a "nice" restaurant for once, so I didn't complain. I have, honestly, had better meals for $5 at bars in Wisconsin, but I wanted the experience. Here is the kicker: my buddy Bob checked his credit card account online and found he was double-billed! He has tried a couple of times to straighten it out, so far unsuccessfully. Well, today I finally checked my account online as well and found that I, too, have been double-billed. As it stands right now, I've paid $380 for a meal I wasn't impressed with. I paid $400 for my first car in 1992, and it served me faithfully for 5 years. I will remember that car much more pleasantly than I will remember Aureole, or as my buddy Bob has renamed it: Aure-hole. I feel like Clark Griswold after he found out he was enrolled in the Jelly-of-the-Month Club. I'm going to go have a drink and relax.

First time at Aureole and my wife and I will return. Outstanding food and service made the night a memorable night. We cannot say enough about the staff and the manager who took the time on a busy Saturday night to talk to us about Las Vegas and the different foods and wines ant Aureole. We highly recommend the Aureole for a terrific night out especially for those special occasions.

The service for me was horrible. I realize anyone can have an off night - but - I put the service on the same scale as an Outback Restaurant. Which is fine when you are paying Outback prices but when I shell out over $200 for my wife and I to eat dinner my expectations go up considerably. So, I was just dissapointed. There are much better places to eat for the money in Vegas.

When the bill comes to $400 I guess you're entitled to an opinion.
It was Christmas Day and we'd booked well in advance and we had the Celebration Menu with wine. It's the standard type of tasting menu.
The first thing to notice was the choice of wine. I remember it being much better on our previous visit and with two Rieslings for the first two courses it seemed an odd selection. The Soave that followed tasted like the box wine I get from home and the Sicilian red was another cost saver. All in all it looked like they were cutting corners on the wine selections.
The food was OK. Not better than OK, though. We had a problem with the course before dessert which was a cheese muffin with marmalade jelly. The cheese on top was bitter. The waiter told us it was Brie but I don't think so. It was really a poor course and we sent it back. The waiter's response was: "I suppose it was a bit too modern for you!" My reply is unrepeatable in this report but I don't value being patronised by the staff. I'd have happily discussed the issue with the Chef if he'd have appeared.
By way of compensation they gave us three desserts free without telling us. We asked what all these desserts were and the waiter who hadn't been told said it was a mistake and then the Captain said it was by way of compensation. A glass of wine would have been more appropriate and it all could have been done with better grace.
We left a tip of $30...below our usual 15+% because we're cowards...and the Brits have a bad reputation as bad tippers but I don't think it was worth it.
If you wish to compete with the best then you'd better be good. We've enjoyed much better meals in Renoir and Picasso at the Mirage and Bellagio and we won't be going back in a hurry.
If you want a tasting menu and you've got a budget go to Nobu at the Hard Rock. That's a real star.
I hope the Aureole isn't dropping its standards. It was our third visit and easily the worst.

I'm not sure what restaurant some of these other raters dined at, but every visit to Aureole that we've had has been excellent. We have dined at several fine restaurants such as Tru, Blackbird, and one sixtyblue in Chicago and even Bradley Ogden at Caesar's recently, and Aureole definitely ranks up there as one of the best places we've tried. We typically order the Tasting Menu and we are never disappointed...the portions are ample and the flavors are interesting and pleasing. I specifically recall one course where a block of seared tuna was served to my husband, while I received a block of tender filet - and I was surprised that we would receive so much food for this type of restaurant. Everything was delicious. Service was impeccable, as it should be for the price you pay. Nice wine selection, and the PDA was a fun touch - after all, you're in Vegas, where you're supposed to have a fun and enjoy yourselves. I would even say that we would rate this restaurant more highly than Bradley Ogden's, on all levels except perhaps the service - both establishments were impressive on the service front. Despite the negative reviews that I've seen here, I have yet to be disappointed by Aureole - until that day comes, we will return here when we can.

I recently dined at Aureole with 2 other chefs in order to enjoy a fine dining experience in Vegas. However, the experience was all BUT pleasant. I changed my reservations from Bradley Ogden's restaurant in Caesar's Palace and do I ever regret it. Let's begin with the SERVICE...very Pretentious atmosphere, took way too long to be greeted by our server, took too long to get bread, too way too long to decipher the damn wine list that was on a giant PDA. We partook of the 3 course meal and it took nearly 2.5 hours...WHY??? Because dirty dishes from each course sat in front of us for at least 20-25 minutes before even being cleared. Yet when it came time to pay the bill, the CAPTAIN/Head Waiter buzzed around our table 4 times before we were ready to pay. This same Captain was not only condescending (assuming we knew NOTHING about food) but also too arrogant to help us choose a decent wine. Also for a 4 Diamond establishment, you would think simple tasks like replacing dinner napkins when one has left the table would be a no-brainer. Not at AUREOLE. I had to ask for a replacement napkin during the main course, since mine disappeared after leaving to use the restroom.
Now, let's discuss the food...When making reservations, I made it VERY clear we had a vegetarian in our group, asked if it would be a problem to accomodate her. We were assured it would not be a problem. Upon arrival and overview of the menu it was discovered that not only were there just 3 vegetarian 1st course items, and there were NO vegetarian Main Course items to choose from! When asked how they would accomodate, my friend had to choose 2 1st course items (a Mesculum Salad and Pumpkin Ravioli) and it cost her $105 with tip, the same as the rest of us who had more options. How ridiculous is that!! One would think that a big time so-called chef as Charlie Palmer could be a little more creative for vegetarians.
NOW, the bathrooms....tiny, dark, one stall, and no towels! This restaurant is a HUGE disappointment! We will never eat at any of Charlie Palmer's restaurants again. We should have gone to Emeril's!

Meal was fine, if pricey for the quality. Our dinner was interupted when a fellow diner suffered a seizure. Also to cougars at the bar kept coming on to us when we were trying to leave.

Nice, but I've had much nicer. The most impressive thing is the wine tower and the wine fairy, but kind of gimmicky. From the outside of the restaurant it seems really elegant, but inside is a let down. Seating is unimaginative, cheap looking, and uncomfortable. The decor is bland and the seating is not intimate at all, but rather seemed designed for large business meetings. The ambiance reminds me of a cafeteria, albiet with really high ceilings. The lighting seemed too bright for dinner. I almost expected to see a powerpoint presentation on one of the large blank white walls! (hint, not ideal for romantic/special occasions)
The menu is creative and appealling. We had the tasting menu and enjoyed almost all aspects of our meal. The bread was not impressive or even freah tasting, and I love bread so I was disapointed, but it wasn't terrible. The portions are nice because I don't like to get overstuffed which I easily do if there are delicious foods presented to me. The only part I disliked was the dessert. It came out and looked glorious and lovely, but it was frozen! I double checked the menu and there was no mention of it being a frozen treat. It was late into the evening so I suspect they ran out of "ready" desserts and had to reach into the freezer and present me with a backup dessert and garnish it with fresh berries and whatnot to make it look decievingly lovely. I wish they had given me the option of choosing another dessert in lieu of this icy one because it left the meal ending on a bad note.
Overall, very pricey ($200+ for tasting menu plus wine for two), but a nice splurge on occasion.
