Had a Denver Omelet (ham, cheese, onion and mushroom) the "melted" cheese was a Velvetta (or similar) slice of cheese laying on top of the omelet. There was no mushrooms to be found anywhere in or on it. Tasted awful!    20569

Ate here with 5 friends. We had been out seeing the sights of Fremont Street and we were all pretty hungry. It was around midnight. We saw the sign for the $8.99 prime rib special and decided to give it a try. Five out of the six of us ordered the prime rib. We all received our orders exactly as we had ordered them, the food came out fairly quickly and the food was the correct temperature. Our waitress wasn't real talkative, but she was efficient and was generous with the dinner rolls. Overall, a good value and a good meal. Not a 5 star restaurant, but not a dump either.I can't speak for the other items on the menu, but I'd go back for the prime rib special.    20492

My daughter and I first ate here last year around this time and we fell in love with the Prime Rib and horseradish mashed potatoes. I bragged on this place to everyone I knew would be visiting Vegas in the near future. I brought my daughter and my son there for his 21st birthday Sunday and was so disappointed. I ordered my favorite to find out they had discontinued the horseradish mashed potatoes. It came with an overcooked baked potato instead. My son ordered the surf and turf and must have ended up with someone else's order because he didn't order fries and the couple next to us left because they were tired of waiting and they were there before we were seated. We overheard he had ordered the surf and turf after my son had told the waitress that fries were ok. My daughter ordered a burger that made her sick the rest of the night. I really hope they make some improvements because I would hate to see this cafe lose business. It apparently has been there for a very long time and had a great reputation in the past.    20459

The sole reason for us dining at this restaurant was for the French toast stuffed with cream cheese and fresh strawberries featured in the online menu, but we were told by the waitress that it had been discontinued. Ms. Westie ordered hot cakes with whipped cream which proved to be both overcooked and grossly over priced. I ordered eggs Florentine – poached eggs with spinach over an English muffin and topped with Hollandaise sauce. The eggs were very close to being hard boiled, the previously frozen spinach was stringy, Hollandaise sauce too heavy on the lemon and the English muffin not sufficiently toasted. I'd read several reviews about The Bay City Diner and decided to give it a chance. My friends and I were gambling over at the Plaza till about 2AM. We were hungry, and we decided to cross the street to the Golden Gate and give this diner a try. The diner is located in one of the oldest, if not the oldest, hotel-casinos in downtown vegas. If you're looking for gourmet dining, go elsewhere. However, if you're looking for an affordable meal, with good food, in a casual and relaxing atmosphere, then you should give it a try.

We were immediately seated and provided with menus. Drink orders were quickly taken and arrived in just a couple of minutes. Our waitress was magnificant. She was very cheerful and smiling. She seemed a little unsure of herself, so I thought she might have been new. But she did a great job taking care of us. We received just the right amount of attention, but she wasn't intrusive.

The menu was pretty extensive. Standard coffee shop fare with some extras thrown in. We just ordered burgers, and they were great. The prices were very reasonable too. I will absolutely be coming here again next trip.    20071

Stumbled upon this diner after leaving Binions where we would normally have the NY Strip, but they did not have it on special anymore. Went to end (or beginning) of Fremont street for the first time and went in to see what it was like and there was a line, so that was a good indication it may be worht the wait. After waiting about 20 minutes and seeing empty tables we were told they didn't want to overwhelm the cook with a full house. We were seated shortly after and the waiting was worth it. Prime rib was excellent! Service was fast and friendly. I will keep this place on my to do list for next trip.    19874

Stopped by for a quick bowl of soup and boy was it good, homemade for sure. Much later that night I had the bacon and egg special with hash browns and toast. I couldn't eat it all. I love the atmosphere of the diner. Reminds me of when I was a kid many years ago. You gotta stop here and eat especially if you're downtown. I will definately return time and time again.    19326

I stumbled across this restaraunt only because the sandwich deli located in the back had a very long line. This turned out to be a blessing because after our first meal here, my Uncle and I ate here twice more for dinner. I had free meal coupons at the nugget and didn't get to use them. The staff here was very friendly and the food was homestyle cooking. You can't beat the price either. I'm returning to Vegas in July and am looking forward to eating at the Bay City Diner. Went here for the famous cheap prime rib and cheap shrimp cocktail. The shrimp are bay shrimp (I think), small but delicious. Came in a glass ice cream dish, covered with a nice spicy hot sauce. Loved it. The prime rib dinner at $9.99 was very good. Nice piece of meat, good mashed potatoes and unforunate canned green beans. But the mean in total for the two of us, incluidng one beer and one wine, was less than $30. Service was outstanding. I'd go back again.    17639
