Les Artistes Steakhouse - For Dinner

Month Visited: 02/05 - Good Meal
We had dinner here on a Wednesday night and had a truly wonderful meal. I had the Baked Goat Cheese Salad with Walnuts. It was wonderful. The basket of rolls was to die for. There were 4 kinds of rolls, and each one was better than the last. There were mini Baguettes, potato rolls, currant and walnut rolls, and these wonderful garlic, onion focachia type rolls that were out of this world. My husband had the prime rib which he said ranked up there with one of the best he's had. He also had the mashed potatoes which he really enjoyed. I had the petite Filet with Bernaise. It was like butter on butter. It was cooked perfectly. I really enjoyed the veggies on the plate. There was something called Salsify, which I had never had before, which I am now completely in love with. I would like to know how the chef prepared them. I also had the side of roasted mushrooms. There were button, shitake, and chanterelles. They were cooked with garlic, and seasoned perfectly. However the best part of the meal was the perfect Creme Brulee for dessert. It was truly sublime.
I really enjoyed the decor of the restaurant. The ceiling is magnificient, and the banquets done in a fabric reminicient of a monet painting were beautiful. I also can't say enough about our waiter. He was truly wonderful. We would repeat this meal any time. Dinner for the 2 of us was $160 including tip. We each started the meal with a cocktail.

I went to this restaurant because I was staying at the Paris and got a coupon to eat here. I got a Filet Mignon which was a great cut, very tender. But... it had zero flavor, not even a grain of salt was used in preparation. I guess the servers must have noticed my disappointed expression, or they know from experience, but they quickly came and offered some sauces. The sauces were attrocious so they didn't help either. My companion had some fish which was just as dull. This restaurant is disappointing. For a great filet, try the excellent Tremezzo at the Aladdin.
