I do not know who paid the people to give good reviews to this restaurant, but I KNOW good food- especially Italian food and this was just the usual American pseudo Italian fare. The service was excellent, BUT it was ridiculously priced and the food was pedestrian at best. Don't waste your money, unless you really WANT to

Went here for dinner were seated overlooking the gondola rides. Service here is amazing. You get what you pay for so don't expect a cheap meal. Had the saffron lasagna, it was to die for!

Fast becoming one of our favorite places to eat. Had eaten lunch there different times & decided to try the Sunday brunch. It rivals The Sterling. Wonderful food & attentive, knowledgable service. Bring your check book as it is pricy but definately worth every penny. Looking forward to trying supper next.

Perhaps not a bad meal, but south of mediocre for the price. I ordered a seafood pasta dish recommended by the waiter that was uninteresting at best. My wife's risotto was pretty good. The soup may have been a watery split pea concoction, though it was not supposed to be. The drinks were $9 each. The restaurant itself was well put together, but the food and staff left much to be desired.

Three of my friends and myself ate at Zeffirinos for dinner on Monday 11/7/05. We had the worst service I have ever had at any sit down restaurant. Both the waiter and the busboy were inefficient and very inattentavie. We asked for bread when the busboy servered our water, and although there was a service table full of bread baskets within eye sight of our table the busboy never brought us the basket. One my friends went to the service station and brought back the bread. Seeing this another waiter came over to ask if we had a problem and we told him, yes, we never received our bread. He shrugged and walked off. Eventually we had to get up and get our own butter.
The bottle of white wine we ordered was opened, poured and placed in an empty ice bucket. We finally put the empty bucket upside down on the table with the wine bottle sitting on top of it. When the waiter came over and saw this, his comment was, "I told them to put ice in it."
When the waiter brought the pasta dish we ordered he asked if we wanted fresh ground black pepper. Instead we asked if he could bring us crushed red pepper. He gave the order to the busboy and it arrived many minutes after we had finished our pasta course. The busboy told us he was sorry, but he was very busy and had to tend to other tables. When the Cesar salads came, we were not offered the fresh ground pepper and we got up and got the pepper mill from the service table and served ourselves once again.
We told our waiter on no uncertain terms that we were very dissastisfied with the service. He apologized, but no manager ever came over to talk to us.
Two other notes: The entree I ordered was not available even though it was only 7PM. One of my friends ordered minnestrone soup and was served split pea, and when confronted, the waiter told him that was the minnestrone.This was minnestrone with no pasta or vegetables except for green peas. Considering the dinner with wine cost over $100. per person, I would definitely not recommend, nor eat at this restaurant ever again.

stopped in for a quick lunch.VERY GOOD!!!!!had the raw oysters and fresh mozzerlla both very good!!!wish I had time to go back for a big dinner.highly recommend

We were very disappointed in the food and service delivered to us by Zeffirinos. The waiter recommended that some of us (we were a party of 8 celebrating our 40th birthdays) try a new dish that featured Escolar, a fish that none of us had heard of before. The two who had it became violently ill hours later with nausea, abdominal cramping, and oily diarrhea that persisted for a week. When we approached the assistant manager the next morning when we deduced that the two that been sick were the two who had that dish, she denied any responsibility. Only when we later presented evidence (Escolar had been banned in the US by the FDA until 1991 because it was known to cause such problems)to the manager and complained to the Venetian Hotel itself, did they finally credit us back the cost of the dish (around $33). Frankly, we felt that recompensation for the whole greater than 300 dollar bill would have been more appropriate. Our experience and their handling of the matter was a true disappointment. Not a class act, for sure.

We ate here on my birthday. The ambiance is very nice, we had a table next to the balcony overlooking the canal. There was a slight breeze blowing in so it made you feel as though you were actually sitting next to a real balcony to the outside. The main course was very very good and the portions were very large. However, the salad was very mediocre, I had the ceasar salad, and I had better ceasar salad at the Paris buffet. The service was ok, but nothing special.

We dined here for my mother's 75th birthday. The service was attentive without being overbearing. My mother ordered the shrimp which she said were the biggest ones she ever ate in her life. I asked for linguine with white clam sauce, which was not on the menu. Our waiter said they accomodate special requests whenever they can. I received about 8 clams in the shells with the best linguine I've ever had - which includes Italian restaurants in Chicago.
The manager noticed that we were admiring the art work and offered us a tour of the restaurant. It is beautiful and romantic.
At the end of dinner our waiter brought out a free dessert plate with enough pastries for our entire party. The strolling guitar player came back to our table and softly played Happy Birthday.
The restaurant is on the expensive side but you are paying for top notch service and a wonderful atmosphere. We felt it was worth it for this special occasion. There is an elevator to get up to the 3rd floor.
