Spiedini looks lovely to the eye, with beautiful decor. But the good stops there. To start with, our server was slow to greet us, treated us inconsequentially, and was chewing gum. Her table manner was terrible, what you would expect from a waitress at a roadside diner. We ordered a lovely bottle of wine, and discovered that our server had no knowledge of the wine list and did not know anything about wine service. Our appetizer (grilled calamari) was passable, but my Chicken Parmesan entree was dry, and my husband's steak was overcooked. We sent it back, only to be delivered back with a small piece of fatty meat. And then to top it off, as we were dining in the raised area, we saw a large rat run between the bar stools and then behind the bar. We complained to the server, and she looked at us critically and said "Welcome to Spiedini".
This was one of the worst dining experiences I have had, and I recommend that no one dine there.    19863

This is one of Master Chef Gustav Mauler’s restaurants and we were amazed how beautiful the room was with its bold accents, lighting and shapes. Service was initially laid back so I advised the server of our plans to see a show later in the evening. We shared a delicious spinach salad with pears, gorgonzola, crispy proscuitto, candied walnuts and balsamic dressing. Ms. Westie’s entrée was lobster ravioli in a lobster sauce finished with a touch of cognac. I chose the golden squash agnolotti – roasted butternut squash, amaretti, mascarpone and parmesan filled pasta topped with bay scallops and brown butter sauce. One of the four or five worst meals my guests and I have ever eaten in our lives. Halibut - woefully undercooked and slimy; Chicken - overcooked and dry; Veal Marsala - edible but served with some repulsive looking mashed potatoes wrapped in a tortilla (?) (ex wife refused to even try it); salmon - overcooked to point of powdery; and the best saved for me. Monkfish wrapped in bacon - as far as I could tell this dish had not gotten witin a foot of a heat source as the bacon was cold and slimy and could not be cut and the three small medallions of fish were translucent, served with about a nickles worth of arguala and a store bought lemon sauce. The others did not send their meals back though they ate very little, however I sent mine back and requested it be replaced with an order of calamari. When the calamari arrived it was a mass of batter and had spent so much time in the oil that parts of it were burned. So what we got was small portions, four out of four sea food dishs improperly prepared and a big bill. I have traveled all over the Unitd States and Western Europe and have eaten at many fine reataurants. I have gotten some exerable meals, but Spiedini is at the top of the bad class. Perhaps if I drank I would not care about bad food, but I don't and I do. As a resident of Las Vegas I have had the opportunity to eat at many "Celebrity Chef" restaurants and without fail have found them to be overpriced and far inferior to other restaurants in town and Spiedini is by far the worst of these.
