- Good Meal
This was my first visit to AJ's Steakhouse, though I've always wanted to try it out. The place wasn't very busy when I visited, but it was the Saturday after Thanksgiving. There was a small crowd at the bar and a fairly good piano player was playing. I liked the old school atmosphere of the restaurant. They have large paintings of old casinos, which seemed to evoke a bit of old, Vegas glamour. The restaurant is rather dark however, so solo diners who want to read over dinner be aware. I ended up just listening to the piano player.
I ordered the evening's special - two small filets (4 oz each) in a red wine jus, chopped asparagus in a goat cheese sauce, and a Yukon gold potato cake ($48.95). I ordered the filets medium, and they were cooked perfectly to my taste. I actually prefer rib eye, but the rib eye on the menu was huge (22 ozs? - something big, I don't remember), which was far too much food for me. The two filets were excellent, as was the asparagus. The potato cake was great - crispy on the outside and smooth on the inside. It was a solid meal - not a lick-your-plate meal, but very good nonetheless. For dessert, I ordered the Apple Tart Tatin with ice cream ($8.95). Again, a solid dessert, but I probably wouldn't order it again given its price.

- Good Meal
I try to eat here on every trip, never had a bad meal. Was here most recently on 3/14 with my two nieces. Our waiter sean remembered me from previous visit (last october) which is always a nice touch. He had a rather large paty behind us but we never lacked for a thing. Never had a bad dish off the menu, I always get a fillet but the nieces swith between veal, lamb chops and salmon usually starting with a caesar salad and I love the lobster bisque.
Atmosphere is classic steakhouse, leather booths, somewhat dim lighting, beautiful old school vegas prints on the walls. Not to forget the piano player.
Can be loud at times with either birthday or wedding groups but hey, its vegas, everybody wants to have fun.
The only bad point is location, at Hard Rock Hotel, which means a cab ride, but its worth it. Cannot wait for my next visit.

It was an excellent meal, one of the best steaks I've ever had. The service was merely so-so, and it was a bit pricey. I loved the atmosphere and decor though.

A friend had mentioned the beautiful 60's decor inside I decided to try the signature NY Steak. Big prime meat and cooked to perfection. The kitchen is out in the open. Very causal warm upscale feeling. The crab cakes appetizer were the some of the best I ever had. The service was very good as the waiters were in 60's uniform and they had 60's pictures of Vegas on the wall. The hostess had a body to die for and The piano bar just capped everything off right. This is not a cheap fast food place, but a classy comfortable, upscale good valued steakhouse that has top meats at a reasonable price. A true gem.
