Commander's Palace in Aladdin - For Lunch

Month Visited: 12/06 - Good Meal

Great lunch. Our first visit here. I had $18.80 3 course special and wife had a sandwich. Both were great. $.25 cent margaritas were fun too. If they didn't offer those we would not eat here again. They help increase the value of the meal. Waitstaff was excellent where we were sitting anyway.

Commander's Palace in Aladdin - For Lunch

Month Visited: 10/06 - Undecided

I have to say I was really looking forward to eating here. We went for lunch and Santino, is areal charmer of the old school. I had gone on the net previously to cheek out the $18.80 specials and so I had an idea as to what to expect. We must have been unlucky as the selections were boring (my openion).
I had the Sweet Potato Bisque(quite tasty}: entree was either Fish(?) over Mashed Potato, and Red Beans and Rise with Anduille (sp) Sausage, 4 tiny pieces of Sausage. MY guest thought the fish was just o k and I was Very underwelmed with the R. B. and R., I also thought it was a bad idea to put those 2 dishes on the same day's menue. I know the Brennen Famuily invented Bananas Foster, but the one I had was very runny and quite disapointing. I had one of the fruit Martini's Vodka, Pinappple and Rasberry Licquor, I couldn't finish it it was to sweet
Now for the service, the young man who waited on us was very nice, if not the SLOWEST WAITER IN THE WORLD, I doubt if one goes to C P to dine at lunch, especially with the limited Lunch menu, we had to ask for EVERYTHING, I thought 25 minutes for the soup and my friends cold app. seemed a long time .The place was not busy and I am sure the soup wasn't made to order. I know I wasn't at McDonalds but hey we are in Vegas and it is lunch time. One of the female watstaff started to clear my plate but saw I had left some food and said she was sorry I hadn't finished. I assured her I was finished and brought to her attention that my fork was turned down on the plate resting next to my knife, this is universal sign that one is finished with what ever one is eating. The waitress had no clue, can you imagine and employee at C P no knowing this? I WAS VERY DISAPOINTED $18.80 for about $2.50 worth of average food, never again.

Commander's Palace in Aladdin - For Lunch

Month Visited: 09/06 - Good Meal

We arrived at 12:30PM for the $18.80 3-course lunch which we combined with the 25 cent martini lunch promotion. We tried both starters: cream of wild mushroom soup topped with truffled chive Chantilly (Ms. Westie) and the house made andouille sausage - pecan smoked and grilled and served with a red bean puree and four-tomato salsa (me). For entrees we chose the broiled Oregon sole Ė lemon drizzled and broiled and served over herb marinated lentils and green split peas, finished with roasted artichoke aioli and young greens. Our desserts of choice were bananas foster Ė an original creation of the Brennanís and soooooo good. With 3 Commanderís Palace and 2 lemon drop martinis under our belts, more under mine, we departed the restaurant with smiles on our faces and pralines in hand. Commanderís Palace continues to garner numerous awards including 10 Best Ė American Continental Restaurants (Las Vegas). I used a restaurant.com gift certificate so the entire meal for two was just over $20 including tax.

Commander's Palace in Aladdin - For Dinner

Month Visited: 09/06 - Good Meal

We walked in with no reservation about 7.30pm one evening, and were seated immediately. I was unsure what to have from the menu, but the waiter was very helpful, explaining each dish in depth to make sure I would make the right choice (I'm quite fussy about food combinations). To start I had the soups 1-1-1, which was a small portion of the 3 soups they serve, my husband had alligator, which he loved, I'm still unsure about the soups, especially the turtle soup, but at least I got to try it without paying for a full portion. For our entree's I had Fish (grilled Opah) and it was lovely, my husband had the wild boar which he thoroughly enjoyed, we each ordered side dished, but there was no need, as the fish and boar itself was very filling. We shared the bread pudding souffle, which was very nice. In total the bill came to about $180 inc tip.. maybe a bit pricey but we were on holiday!!!!

Commander's Palace in Aladdin - For Brunch

Month Visited: 09/06 - Good Meal

Go for brunch on the weekend.........the original restaurant is in New Orleans and on the weekend the Dixie Band plays while I dinned on turtle soup and gin fizz. It's hard for me to get excited about restaurants but this one is a classic. Trust me go and enjoy.

Commander's Palace in Aladdin - For Lunch

Month Visited: 08/06 - Good Meal

We ate lunch here in August of 2006. I had the $18.80 set menu, which offers two choices each for appetizer, entrée, and dessert. The day we visited, the set menu appetizers were gumbo or fried potato stuffed with salmon mousse, one entreé was Ling cod with haricots verts, and the desserts were chocolate Sheba or beignets. I donít remember the other entrée choice, which might be due to the $0.25 martinis. Yes, itís true, during lunch they will bring you up to four martinis per person for a quarter each! We tried a lemon drop, a Commanderís Palace martini (bright blue and very sweet, more of a dessert drink), and a chocolate martini with dessert. My husband ordered à la carte: Hennican shrimp appetizer, shrimp and oyster po-boy, and the unique and delicious bread pudding soufflé.

Our total bill was $87.55, including iced teas, tip, and three of the $0.25 martinis. So the $18.80 menu is a great value, if you like either of the two choices. Everything was perfectly prepared, and service was great. We had a reservation, but would have had no trouble just walking in at 12:45 on that Tuesday.

Commander's Palace in Aladdin - For Lunch

Month Visited: 07/06 - Bad Meal

We ate lunch at Commander's Palace on 7/10/06. We have previously eaten here several times and it was our favorite restaurant in Las Vegas. This time we went for the .25 martini lunch and arrived about 1:30 pm--lunch is served until 2:30pm. Most of the other diners had just finished or were about to finish their meals and right away the waiters seemed annoyed that we wanted to eat at this time. Instead of explaining the menu like the waiter usually does this waiter mumbled a few things about what he thought was good and left. Another waiter came to take our drink order and we each ordered martini's. The first waiter arrived to take our order-- we both chose the creole lunch, turtle soup, pecan crusted catfish and bread souffle--all the food was great. The bread and turtle soup arrived and still no martini's. They finally arrived when our entrees arrived. When we were ready for desert they finally took another drink order. When we finished our deserts they brought the check without asking if we wanted more drinks. We were having a great time in Vegas and weren't making them stay later than their published hours yet they rushed us out of there like they didn't want our business. Well they don't have to worry about it anymore as we will not be returning despite the wonderful food and will spend several hundred dollars at a competing restaurant.

Commander's Palace in Aladdin - For Dinner

Month Visited: 07/06 - Undecided

After reading the glowing reviews for Commander's Palace, my wife and I decided to give it a try--and we came away a little disappointed. The food is pricy to be sure (bill was $130 before tax/tip with no cocktails), but not outrageous for such an upscale restaurant. The turtle soup was wonderful and so was the braised veal appetizer we shared. The disappointment came with our entrees, which were both very underwhelming. I had the mixed grill (elk chop, shrimp, and cajun sausage) and my wife had the pork tenderloin. The elk chop was somewhat dry and didn't have a lot of flavor, and the shrimp came out whole with the entire body entact! I'm sorry, but I don't expect to have to de-head my own shirmp--especially at such a nice restaurant! The service was wonderful though and the decor is really nice, but we were let down a little by the food. With so many great dining choices in Vegas, I don't think we'll go back to Commander's Palace.

Commander's Palace in Aladdin - For Lunch

Month Visited: 06/06 - Good Meal

We went to the "martini" lunch while on vacation and what a wonderful experience it was. The wait staff (on a Monday) was the best. They made the whole experience even more unique. We had excellent service and great conversation with all three during our time there. The room was beautiful and ambiance of the restaurant was terrific. We had the $18.88 luncheon
special and many martinis. I would highly recommend that anyone visiting Vegas, even if you're not a martini drinker, to have at least one meal here -- you won't regret it.

Commander's Palace in Aladdin - For Lunch

This is the second time that I have ate at Commanders Palace. This time we went for the .25 cent martini lunch. This is possibly the best lunch deal on the strip. Stop eating lunch on the run, and take a minute to have some of the best food on the strip at a great price.
