I love this place for breakfast when I stay at NYNY, but this was my first dinner trip. The food was good, but not excellent--in line with the prices. Il Fornaio also has a small bakery/breakfast spot a few doors down in the casino. We had a party of 10 for dinner and were seated in this space, with another large party. Some may not like being removed from the main restaurant, but I thought it was nice--much quieter and excellent personal attention from the staff.

I must admit, after reading mixed reviews on Il Fornaio (Las Vegas) I was hesitant to eat there.
However....sometimes you have to read between the lines with reviewers. If they happen to experience
a waiter who spilled their water, then the entire meal was a disaster. (but was their meal good?) Other
customers expect top-notch prime rib at a standard Italian restaurant. I figure if they feature pastas
and pizza -- then order accordingly. Go to a steakhouse for a good steak or prime rib! Remember,
this is a casual restaurant in a casual casino...trying to please a variety of palates at a decent price. If
you want a particularly bland or spicy dish, ask the waiter for recommendations. My husband ordered a
pizza and I ordered a calzone. The pizza was very flavorful. My calzone was good and generous in size
-- not unforgettable in taste, but good. We took our chances (our choice!) to sit in the patio
area...where smoking is allowed. The ambiance of this area was very nice -- and it was 'open air' (to
the casino) so we didn't notice the smoke. The little river that winds by the tables is charming.
Fortunately for us, the one person near us who WAS smoking didn't bother our meal. IL FORNAIO is a
casual restaurant in a casual casino, serving a variety of standard Italian entrees. If you are looking for
truly authentic, award-winning fare, you need to go to a more upscale restaurant. It depends on what
your expectations are before you even sit down. Our overall experience at this restaurant was quite
pleasant and our waiter was kind and efficient.

- Bad Meal
This was really bad. The lobster ravioli was hard and way below al dente. It also was very tasteless. The sauce was icky. The chicken was too spicy which killed the whole taste. The tiramisu was good but not as good as I've had it elsewhere. Overall not the Italian dinner experience I look forward to. We'll stick to buffets from now on.

I ate here twice on my last trip. I was in Vegas alone, and really enjoyed sitting at the Chef's counter watching all the activity in the kitchen while I waited for my food. I know some people find that kind of seating second class ( 2 guys left in a huff when seated there)but I like picking up some cooking tips. The service at the counter is good as well.
The food is excellent. The pizzas made in the wood fired oven are as close to twhat you get for pizza in Italy as I have found in this country. I also had a baked cannaloni that was wonderful. Be aware that most of the dishes are pretty authetically Italian, this is not an "Olive Garden" menu.

I ate at Il Fornaio once for Dinner and once for Breakfast. I love the atmosphere – both times I sat in the patio section near the stream. Dinner was pretty good. I had Bolognese Pasta and my Mother had Halibut. The pasta was pretty good and was a good size portion. The Halibut was possibly the best we’ve ever had but at $24 it had better be. The bread was great.
Breakfast was also wonderful. Eggs Benedict is a favorite of mine and their version with a cheesy cream sauce, thin ham and their famous bread was very good.
Sandwiches from the little bakery next door were also good but a little pricey.
The service was okay though they were trying to rush us out after we ate breakfast. All told – a little expensive but what isn’t these days in Vegas.

We ate dessert after seeing Kà at MGM. Excellent desserts. Extremely tasty. There was a boutique herbal tea that was served. I loved it. The coffee served was OK. The bill was pricey, but I expected that with Il Fornaio.
