Battista's Hole In The Wall - For Good Meal
Month Visited: 10/10
geez I guess some of the folks that are writing bad reviews are hard to please, this place is a
landmark in Vegas, if the food was that bad they would have been out of business years ago. my
wife and I have been going there for years, it's a fun place, the food and the service are very good,
it is what it is. if your in to "fine dining" go somewhere else, those of us that enjoy the restaurant
don't want to here you complain. But then you'd probably complain about anything if it didn't meet
your outrageous standards.

We love this place. It is above average Italian food at a great value for Vegas. In the a-la-cart Vegas world, this is an oasis of value. You get soup, salad, wine, bread, and cappuccino as part of the price of your meal. The feel of this place is second to none if you are looking for an "old Vegas" experience. Gordie the accordion player(may he live forever) adds a degree of authentic ism that is lacking most other places. The food is good, and the staff is great. Do not go here if you enjoy the $100 entrees at the trendiest of Vegas restaurants. You will surely be disappointed if you just aren't complete without paying $20 for a side dish. I agree that this place is not for everyone. However, if you're looking for one of the greatest values in Vegas as well as an "old Vegas" experience, do not miss this little place hiding behind the Flamingo. Try to sit in the back right corner of the restaurant and order anything. It's all good.;-)

Decided to try this place on our last trip to Vegas because we had heard good things. In general , I was underwhelmed. I really liked the "old vegas" atmosphere and thought Gordy the accordian player was a hoot. The service was quick and attentive. However, the food was not really worth the price. It was just OK. Not great. There is much better Italian food to be had, and at better prices, elsewhere.
From now on, I think we'll stick to the Bootlegger Bistro for Italian while in Vegas.

If your thing is seeing signed black-and-white photos of long-dead stars who ate here once 40 years ago, then you might like Battista's. If you are looking for a good Italian meal, keep on looking. The portions are small, the food is mediocre and the prices are astronomical. And don't think of sharing - there is a "plate charge" for anyone who sits at the table, regardless of whether they order anything. The trouble is that the empty plate may be the best value on the menu. We only went because we had out-of-town friends who insisted on going. Next time we're begging off, no matter how good of friends may ask us to go.

I could have sworn I remembered hearing that this was a great meal at a fair price. I almost fainted when I saw the proces. Then I figured the prices were probably for a "family style" portion. NOPE!! My wife paid $22 for a bowl of spaghetti and meat sauce. My lasagna was $23. The food was alright, but no where near being worth the prices they charged. At that price I made sure the entire carafe of wine was gone (I don't even like wine)! The service was good, but it was the helper, not the waiter, doing all the work. I sure hope he gets a big portion of the tip. And the guy playing the accordian was a pest. I don't think he played an entire song for any of the tables. He was basically walking around with his hand out expecting a tip. All in all a very forgetable experience.

Horrible place - no other words to describe it. We went in July and they didn't even have air conditioning turned on - apparently they think swamp coolers in the middle of a hot muggy July evening is sufficient. Way too many people crowded into the room - probably violating fire code for putting more people in the room than the room actually allowed for. The incessant accordian player would NOT leave our table alone - we had to finally tip him to get rid of him. The menu written on the wall is NOT amusing nor is does it leave much to choose from. The 'house wine' was some of the cheapest crap I've ever tasted - I would NOT recommend this 'hole in the wall' to my worst enemy and whoever thought to name it 'Hole in the Wall' must have been psychic for it surely is just that - a real hole in the wall - more like a dump. Save your money - go someplace NICE - or at least someplace that has air-conditioning in the summer.

My family has gone to Batista's for about 30 years now (same accordian player too...) and have never had a bad meal. This is my third time going with a group of friends and we always have a great time. If you are with a group of guys, try dividing up each side of the table into teams...one for red wine and one for white wine. That'll get the meal off right. The meal comes with: house wine, garlic bread, soup/salad, meal, pasta side, capuccino. It ranges from $16-$32, but it is all-inclusive. It's loud in there and always crowded, but that's just adds to the atmosphere there. I will go back every time I go to Vegas.

Battista's is what it is. The place is what it is. It is no way fine dining so if that is what you are looking for you will be disappointed. However, if you are tired of the buffets and are looking for a simple Italian meal, this place more then fits the bill. It is a bit pricey but, the charm the place has will win over most people.

Well, with name like "Hole in the Wall", should you really expect a gourmet meal? Yes, the house dressing is Good Seasons, yes the cappucino is hot chocolate (even has whipped cream), and yes, the wine probably comes from a box. You eat there for the atmosphere and embrace the cheesy stuff that comes with it. I thought the food was very good (meals are $20-$35), and the service was fast and friendly. A swanky restaurant it's not, but it's a great place to hang out with family and friends and get schnockered on all the cheap wine you can drink. We'll be back!
