Bistro Buffet in Palms Resort - For Lunch

Month Visited: 03/09 - Good Meal

Best buffet on strip for lunch. Great price for gourmet selections. There aren't as many choices as other buffets, but you will fill up just as much. Flavors in selections complement each other extremely well. I spoke to chef and complemented him on this how the flavors don't fight each other. He said that this was done purposely. Rarely will a chef stop and talk to ordinary folks, but he did.    20292

friends/fellow buffet diners, be advised that the comments from other reviewers regarding a lowering of quality of food at the Palm Buffet, despite an upgrading of the physical buffet room, is TRUE.

I was amazed, and I tried the buffet for dinner twice after it reopened, that the food quality, even the really good deserts previously, had really gone down. Do you know the feeling of sadness/anger when you go to a buffet in Vegas and there is almost nothing decent to eat, despite many offerings. The quality is very very poor, and the problem is both quality of the meat and ingredients, AND the service personnel. It is a mess at the Palms, and that is sad. Do not know how/why management doesnt do something about it. the buffet is to bring in gamblers, and anyone at the hotel that reads the comments would know there are problems.

Bistro Buffet in Palms Resort - For Dinner

We received a 2 for 1 booklet with coupons and extra points for playing slots (which I forgot to bring) Because of the gas prices this is too far for going as regularly as we go to other buffets. Since they "redid" this buffet, I expected much more for the price as well as the taste of the food. We arrived at 4:30 PM and we had soup, which was good and salad. Not much of a selection. No chinese soups at all. The prime rib was under a "warming" light and the meat was totally brown! Not rare at all. I tried it and it tasted like LIVER. I was told by a butcher why this is, but I have forgotten what the reason is. The did have crab legs, split in half so no hard pickings. However, some were hot and some were cold and some seemed like 9 days old (dry and tough!) The Chinese food was not too much in abundance maybe 5 or 6 choices of sweet and sour pork and orange chicken, beef and broccoli etc. The cakes were about 6 or 7 choices as well as pies, I didn't see any sugar free stuff, but I'm sure they had some. I had to ask for Lemon Merengue Pie. I then tried to get a Latte. They have the same machine as Rampart to make your own "coffee" or "tea" no tea bags. Paper cups, not regular coffee cups. Machine did not work for more then 10 minutes as it was warming up. I tried the "caramel" sauce and kept pressing to put on ice cream and could not do it. The lady behind the counter where the cakes were pressed as hard as she could but was barely able to do so. My husband and I were totally disgusted, and we filled out a comment form. According to their ads, with the Palms slot card they take off $3, however because it was 2-1 they didn't. I must say, their slots stunk also. I put a $1 in penny machine and went 20 lines. It was gone after 2 presses of machine! I would ABSOLUTELY NOT Recommend the NEW BISTRO buffet at all! Go to the Rio's Carnival buffet, down the street for lunch at 3:15 and get dinner at 4 PM for the same price, or go to RED ROCK for the same price for dinner, nicer atmosphere and food. Good service by server.

Fantasy Market Buffet in Palms Resort - For Lunch

Month Visited: 04/07 - Bad Meal

Before the first modification of the buffet in 2006 it was one of the best in Las Vegas with specialties like the "Italian Night" which included different wines and Mediterranean specialties.
After the first part of the renovation you could see a dramatic decrease in selection and quality. Now, since the "new" buffet is opened the quality and selection has not improved, actually it has become worse. The food was dried out and cold, the desert bar was pretty much empty and the salad bar was not really existing.
In short....it's a nightmare. Don't waste your money.

Decent buffet, Very good omlettes made to order. It is not a particularly big buffet or area, and other buffets had more selection, but the pricing is very good, and the food is fine. Not the best buffet we have eaten at, but on of the best buffets value-wise.    18161
