If you're hungry for sushi, this is the place. Dozens of choices, and all prepared in front of you. And if you don't like sushi, there's other choices, such as beef and chicken teriyaki, oysters, crab legs, and tempura (the shrimp is my favorite). Leave room for green tea ice cream or shaved ice.

I've tried the Makino Buffets in Las Vegas and Hawaii. Hawaii's Makino Chaya Buffet is far more superior in freshness, selections, preparation, etc., etc. Both Vegas locations were disappointing. If you are an avid fan of Japanese cuisine, you will be disappointed. If you, however, have never eaten truly great Japanese food you will be satisfied with the selections. Don't get me wrong, I am not a snob, but have eaten Japanese food in Hawaii, California, Vegas and Japan. In addition, my dad ran an authentic Japanese restaurant in Hawaii. He was trained in Japan. I was stationed in Japan for two years while in the air force and traveled extensively throughout Japan.

I can't begin to explain how great the buffet at Makino's is till you try it for your self. I look fwd. on visiting Las Vegas at least three to four times a yr. but, especially when I know I'm going to the buffet at Makino's Restaurant over at the new outlet shops is my favor, had the Makino's on Decatur again I can't stress how great the food and it's quality with a small price to pay ... :-)

Better than Todai definitely. Dinner costs more but offers oysters!

If you like sushi, and lots of it, then you'll love this place.
The sushi selection is incredible, really tasty with lots of unusual selections, and it's all you can eat. Great place to try new flavors and get your sushi fix.
There's also lot's of other Asian food in the buffet for the non-sushi addicts that might be with you.

Excellent variety of both hot dishes, desserts and sushi. Everything is fresh, Hand rolls are good but the seaweed on the handrolls is very chewey. I like crispy seaweed. I want to hear/feel that cruch when I bite into a handroll not have to rip the thing apart. The variety of sushi and fish is excellent, a few of the rolls are the same and would like to see a little more variety. The service is very friendly. Parking is very difficult cause the restaurant is in a shopping plaza and parking is often full near the restaurant. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who like sushi. It's one of the better sushi buffets in vegas and even beats out todai at the aladdin hotel.

I have eaten at this buffet many times. As a Sushi lover, I was thrilled to discover this restaurant. It is well worth the price... many different and creative types of sushi as well as raw bar type things, cooked seafood, meats, salids and a great desert bar... The restaurant is very busy and has many chefs so the food on the buffet is always fresh. Highly recommended for a great casual meal.

Great deal for Lunch, about 13 bucks. They have about 30 kinds of sushi rolls, as well as Udon, 10-12 entrees (for people that arent big sushi fans) and salads (try the raw tuna salad!). Also they have Nigiri, about 10 kinds including salmon, clam, tuna, shrimp and others, all fresh and tasty. Tempura shrimp and veggies, too, but get them as they are dumping them into the bin fresh, as tempura goes bad quickly. The desserts are ok, nothing special, they could shore up that area a bit. The sushi rolls are about 85-90% as good as those you would get at a top flight sushi bar for a MUCH higher price. Even tho its a buffet, they do a good job at balancing the amount of sushi on the line with keeping it all fresh so it doesent sit there too long. As us sushi fans know, freshness is everything and they do a great job keeping fresh rolls on the line, considering its a buffet. Overall a great value and the perfect place to introduce some of your sushiphobic friends to Japanese cuisine. At dinner, more and better entrees (teri steaks, baked shrimp, fresh half shell oysters on ice) but its almost double the price, about 24 bucks. Still a deal, but the lunch is the better value!:)
