I have been going there for years and the food is always good

This is a very small restaurant, almost everything on the menu is either $10.00 or more, not worth the price, the chili didn't have very much flavor, the meat tasted sweet, not what I expected and read about

I walked from downtown L V to this restaurant, a nice little hike. I was not put off by the lack of decor but the service was so so and it seemed they were disapointed I was alone. I order my favorite, Chili Rellones (sp)combo plate, what a disapointment. I was served two salsa's both needing salt and flavor, the entree was equaly disapointing. I can't wait to tell my local Mexican restaurant how much better they are, I have known they were good but suprised at how much better they are than an old traditional Mexican restaurant from the Southwest.

Wonderfully prepared and tasty food. Definitely authenic,just like Grandma used to make! I ordered the #10 combo: 2tacos,beans and rice. I judge good Mexican food on how these are prepared. It was all to perfection. You have a choice of Chicken, shredded beef or ground beef. I chose shredded beef, and it was very good and fresh. Lots of it too! Most places don't spicen the meat properly for good taste. They should eat at El Sombrero and take note! It is a bit pricey compared to other Mexican restaurants,I admit. $9.00+ for most combo plates. But the environment and quality of food should overwhelm the check price. Just eat and enjoy! It'S location isn't the best for night time dining.It's a hole in the wall! Really close to the Freemont Street experience. Lock your doors! But I felt safe enough. I intend on visiting El Sombrero a lot while I live here.And until someone else comes up with "above perfection" it is number one to my taste buds!
