Golden Steer Steakhouse - For Dinner

I agree that this restaurant was a bit pricey, but worth every penney!!! The steaks (or should I say roasts) were excellent, cooked to order and soooo tender. The potato was a dinner in itself. Ceasar salad was prepared tableside (love it!). Definately worth going off the strip, reminds me of the way restaurants used to be, attentive and VERY customer service oriented!

Expectations were exceeded in the quality of the prime rib, atmosphere, and especially the tuxedo service. Leo was the best! Granted, it was a little pricey, but worth every penny.

This was my second trip to the Golden Steer. I was just as impressed as I was with my first visit. Golden Steer is the oldest restaurant in Las Vegas and with good reason. Quality NEVER goes out of style. The old world ambiance still remains at this former hangout for the "rat pack". The steaks are as good as any I have ever had in the midwest (the capital of beef). With my surf and turf came a fantastic, thick, juicy and well seasoned filet mignon that was cooked medium rare as I ordered it as well as a huge, sweet and tender fresh lobster tail. I ordered a twice-baked potato which was about the size of half a regulation NFL football (I'm not making this up). The waiters were very professional and attentive and I plan to return again and again. I advise that you leave the strip for a couple of hours and dine in a REAL steak house. That's not to take away from some of the great restaurants on the strip, but Golden Steer is a special place.

We found this restaurant very pretentious and snobby in their attitude toward the customer. More of an "old boys club" atmosphere. Our waiter was not really interested in us once we didn't order a bunch of drinks and appetizers, just entrees and veggies. He brought the steaks and never once came back to check how they were, even though we were there late in the afternoon and the place was not busy. Wife ordered hers medium rare and it was way overdone. My steak was fine. But we are not going back. I suggest The Steak House at Circus Circus or Lawry's Prime Rib as alternatives to this overrated joint.
