Cortez Room

We started off with a complimentary relish tray and a loaf of freshly baked bread. Our entrees included a choice of soup or a house salad featuring the ever so common iceberg lettuce. Ms. Westie ordered Chicken Oscar - a small skinless chicken filet topped with crab meat stuffing, asparagus and beurre blanc sauce. I chose the 14-ounce prime rib which was both tender and delicious. Both meals included a baked potato served with sour cream and chives. Overall a good, not fantastic dining experience.    20008

Very good for the price. The menu here is pretty small - you are pretty much getting red meat or seafood. Also there is no beer on tap and the wine list is tiny. Meal starts off with a relish tray and warm bread. I ordered the Queen Cut Prime Rib which came with one side and a dinner salad. The salad was a little ordinary - almost all iceberg lettuce - but it was fresh and chilled. The Prime Rib was prepared perfectly and quite large - very good. Total meal price with one bottle of Sam Adams came to a little over $20. Gold Coast makes it easy to use slot comps to pay for dinner. You can simply hand your waiter your card and he takes care of the rest- no need to get a comp coupon ahead of time from the players club like many places make you do. This is not a high end steakhouse. However, it is a nice restaurant with good prices. I had a porterhouse and my wife had shrimp and everything was good. We would go back.    17807

Cortez Room is one of the best kept secrets in town. It is not the best steakhouse in Vegas, but for the price it can't be beat. I think every menu item is below $20 (including the filet!) and all entrees come with soup or salad and your choice of potato. The atmosphere is kinda retro, with low lighting and big booths. The service was fantastic and the waiter gave me bournaise sauce for my steak even though he said it only came with the filet. My wife had the filet and it was just as good as steaks costing twice as much. For desert, we split the Double Chocolate Cake and it was wonderful. Cortez Room is not Prime or Delmonico's, but a couple can eat a wonderful meal for under $50!    15687

I had an excellent experience at the Cortez Room. We were treated great by the staff and the meal was amazing. I believe it was one of the best prime rib's I have eaten. Both of us ordered the 14 ounce cut rare and it was made to perfection. The prices are extremely reasonable. Dinner included a relish vegtable tray, excellent crisp salads, hot bread straight from the oven, the entree which comes with your choice of potatoe and a very good bottle red wine for $60.00. I highly recommend the Cortez Room if a couple would like a romantic dinner. The lights are dim and each table has a candle. The only suggestion I would make is to the music. For some reason Barry Manillow & The Carpenters do not fit this restaurant.    15134

The service and food were both excellent. The Cortez room has a romantic setting.(Perfect for a nice quiet dinner)
We both had the "Large" cut of prime rib and it was cooked to perfection.
The Salad prior to dinner was very cool & crisp and served with bread which
was fresh baked right from the oven. Overall an excellent dinner.
A very good value for the money. I will make it a "must do" for dinner on any and all future trips to Las Vegas.

Had a very nice steak dinner and enjoyed the Cortez Room's service. We stayed at the hotel five nights, and will be returning again this year. Of course, we will eat again at the Cortez Room.    5778

I'd like to highly reccomend this restaurant for anybody who likes great food at a very reasonable price! What a find! Earlier this year when my husband and I were here (staying at Harrahs; what a mistake) we took the free shuttle to The RIO and nearly lost our shirts. Of all people a porter at the Rio told us not to eat there and go to Gold Coast or try the new Palms, so we decided to go to Gold Coast! We played for less than 30 minutes video poker there and hit a royal flush on quarters! We were up $200 from what we lost at RIO! We were so hungry and a nice local lady reccomended The Cortez Room. We were lucky to just walk in but I guess it was easier being that it was Wednesday. The prime rib was out of this world! Service was top knotch! Even the bread was heavenly! Would definitly eat there again. We felt so happy (winning the money and having a great meaal that we left 50% tip! JUST GO THERE TO EAT!    4321
